Charles Simms, Jr.
age 66, formerly of Pevely and DeSoto, Missouri, passed away Friday, February 8, 2019 at Scenic Nursing and Rehab Center in Herculaneum, Missouri. He was born April 21, 1952 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Dovie Delores (nee White) Simms of Festus, and the late Charles Earl Simms.
Also surviving are sisters Cheryl (Karl) Brown of Bonne Terre, Missouri, Renee (Carl) Alsbach of Festus, Missouri, and Rhonda (David) Brown of Imperial, Missouri; step-mother Judith (nee Tarsan) Simms of Festus; nieces and nephews Candice (Donnie) Kentch, Cassie (Justin Klutenkamper) Alsbach, Cayla (Kyle) Tolbert, Carl (Rene Kelly) Alsbach II, Brandy (Eric) Pieper, Tisha Wallman, Nichole (John Price) Portell, Karl Wayne (Paige) Brown, Jamie (Michael Abdelnour) Brown, and Josh (Julia) Brown; 2 aunts; an uncle; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins; and his best friend, cousin John Simms of Festus.
In addition to his father he is preceded in death by a niece Heather Wallman.
He graduated from Herculaneum High School in 1970; was a U.S. Coast Guard Veteran; a retired carpenter with Atlas Construction Co. in Fenton, Missouri; and a member of Herculaneum United Methodist Church.
Visitation from 11:00 A.M. until the time of funeral services at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus, officiated by Mr. Danny Denton of Festus. Interment in Herculaneum City Cemetery in Herculaneum, Missouri. Memorials in his memory are preferred to Herculaneum United Methodist Church in Herculaneum.
