Rev. Wilbur Ferguson
age 85, of Festus, Missouri, entered into his eternal home on Sunday, October 7, 2018, following a long life of service to his God, his family and the Bride of Christ.
He was married to Valene Fay Hayes on June 26, 1953. Having been drafted to the US Army, they took up residence at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, then soon deployed to Korea where he served as Military Police in the Korean War until his honorable discharge in March 1955.
Menk devoted the remainder of his days to the cause of Christ, pastoring at numerous Southern Baptist Churches in and around Jefferson County, Missouri, and served on the executive board of the Missouri Baptist Convention. In addition to his ministerial duties, he was a retired sales tax auditor for the Missouri Department of Revenue.
Menk is survived and adored by his beloved wife of 65 years, Valene; two daughters, Bonita Fay Digby of Crystal City and husband Dan Digby, and Sandra Denise Hedger of Jefferson City, Missouri and husband Dr. Rick Hedger; one daughter-in-law, Kathy Ferguson-Litton of Mobile, Alabama; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two sisters.
He is preceded in death by his cherished son, Dr. Rick Earl Ferguson; his parents; three brothers; and one sister.
Visitation from 5:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. Friday, October 12, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Arnold, 2012 Missouri State Road, Arnold, Missouri. Visitation Saturday, October 13, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Arnold from 9:00 A.M. until the time of funeral services at 10:00 A.M., officiated by Dr. Rick Hedger. Private family interment in Lebanon Baptist Cemetery at a later time. Memorials in Menk's memory are preferred to the Young Leaders Conference of First Baptist Church of Arnold, which he founded.
