age 92, of Valles Mines, Missouri, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017 at his home. He was born February 22, 1925 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of the late Florence Helen Gertrude (nee Dorton) and Clyde Franklin Steele.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Estelle (nee Daniel) Steele; brothers Clyde Franklin Steele, Jr. and Milton Lynn Steele; and a sister Betty Lou Baillie.
He is survived by sons William R. (Judi) Steele of St. Louis Co., Missouri, John F. (Jennifer) Steele of Valles Mines and Daniel (Catherine) Steele of Crestwood, Missouri; a daughter Linda C. (Rick) Hoffman of St. Louis Co.; brother Guy (Lo) Steele of Boston, Massachusetts; grandchildren Brian Storch, Danielle C. (Ryan) Wilding, Timothy (Anna) Steele, Kacie (Adam) Elder, Zachary Steele, Kristan Hoffman, Alex Hoffman, Austin (fiance Sophie Evensen) Hoffman and Chelsea (Skyler) Smith; and great-grandchildren Sullivan Steele, Noah Wilding, Alivia Elder, Kinslie Elder, Charley Evensen-Hoffman, Ben Evensen-Hoffman, Clifton Storch and Savanna Smith.
He was a Marine Corps veteran of WW II who served in the Asiatic-Pacific theatre and a retired service supervisor for Canteen Corp. in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
Visitation from 12:00 Noon until the time of funeral service at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus, Missouri, officiated by Rev. Dale Stringer, pastor of Harvest Christian Center, Caledonia, Missouri. Inurnment with full military honors at 1:30 P.M. Friday, August 11, 2017 in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Memorials in his memory are preferred to any no-kill animal rescue organization.
