, age 80, of Bonne Terre, Missouri, formerly of Festus, Missouri, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017, at St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis, County, Missouri. He was born July 16, 1936 in Wayne County, Missouri the son of the late Zelma Mary (nee Crowley) and Robert H. Rash.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Janet (nee Hogan) Rash, brother Robert (Juanita survives of Glen Carbon, Illinois) Rash and sister June (the late Jesse) Wells.
He is survived by his daughter Cheryl A. (Michele Hill) Rash of Troy, Illinois, son James A. (Mechelle) Rash, Jr. of Bonne Terre, Missouri, sister Doris (the late Howard) Pigg of Williamsville, Missouri, grandchildren Aaron and Brock Atchley, Marissa, Victoria, Blake, Garrett and Sarah Rash, Vincent Adler, Cassandra (James) Townsend and Alexander Fadler, great-grandchildren Keelie, Christian, Keira and Hadassah Atchley, Hunter and Wyatt Adler and Chloe Townsend.
He was a retired Train Master from Terminal Railroad Association in Venice, Illinois and a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Rash was very active with the Boy Scouts of America and volunteered as a scout leader and scout master for over 25 years.
Visitation from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus, then after 9:30 A.M. Tuesday, May 23, 2017 with funeral services at 10:30 A.M. at First Baptist Church of Festus/Crystal City, officiated by Dr. Charles McClain, Pastor. Interment, with full military honors, in National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. Memorials in his memory are preferred to Wounded Warriors Project.
